Hildur Guðnadóttir

I saw Hildur Guðnadóttir on Saturday night at Chambers Gallery on Moorhouse ave. She is an Icelandic Cellist and it was absolutely amazing. Seriously it was one of my favourite ever shows. She played Cello, sung, looped and triggered samples of her voice and cello with her feet. Cello is one of my favourite instruments, I like the range it has. She played droney, classical inspired pieces and my favourite song was an old Icelandic hymn. She is also outstandingly beautiful. Seht who played before her was also great, electronic drones which built up and were cut off unexpectedly at places. I think one of the reasons I love shows like this is the atmosphere, everyone there was completely silent the whole time, they either had their eyes closed or faced the front and everyone was sitting down. I sat at the front on the floor. It wasn't a social event and nobody was drunk, nobody was there to be seen. They just allowed themselves to be hypnotised by this amazing music. I'm looking forward to more shows from Altmusic coming up. If you are into experimental music you should come and watch.
